Why Pay to Send a Message?
You could have sent a text for free. You chose to make it a gesture.
You know exactly what you want to say. “I miss you.” “Thank you for that day.” “I’d choose you again.” Or something so ridiculously specific that only one person in the world would understand why it's funny.
THIS COST ME lets you create a sealed digital message for someone. You choose the words and the amount you want to spend. Then you send them a private link. When they open it, they discover your message and how much you chose to pay.
The way you deliver the words becomes part of what you're saying.
How does THIS COST ME work?
The unnecessary part is the point.
Write your own words or select a predefined message. Choose who the message is for, pick an amount, and pay for the experience.
You receive a private link to send through whatever channel you prefer, plus a separate shareable image of your message.
When the recipient opens the link, they first see a sealed message addressed to them. The words don't appear right away. There's a brief moment of anticipation before your message and the amount you chose are revealed.
The recipient does not receive the money. Your payment covers the THIS COST ME experience. What you give them is the message—and the way you chose to deliver it.
Why pay for a few words?
For the surprise. For the joke. For the pleasure of doing something unexpected. Or simply to say, in a different way, “I was thinking about you.”
People dedicate songs, plan surprises, and buy ridiculous gifts because of jokes only they understand. Sometimes the part that looks unnecessary to everyone else is the part that makes a gesture meaningful to the two people involved.
It can be sincere. It can be completely absurd.
“Thank you for that day.”
Just a few words. No lengthy explanation. The person reading them knows what you mean: a time they showed up for you, a favor you never forgot, something between you that doesn't need a whole story.
It could be a declaration, an apology, an overdue thank-you, or a message to someone you miss. The reveal gives those words a moment of their own, separate from the rest of your chats.
Or it could be a terrible joke.
A line from a night you still talk about. A reference that makes no sense outside your friendship. An entirely ordinary sentence, delivered with completely disproportionate seriousness.
That's when the payment becomes part of the punchline:
“Wait. You actually paid money to tell me that?”Yes. You did.
The price is the message.
What does the amount mean?
You decide how much to spend. It might simply be the amount that feels right. It could reference a date, a memory, or a number the other person will recognize. It can add one more personal detail—or make the joke even more absurd.
A bigger amount doesn't make a feeling more genuine. Paying doesn't buy forgiveness, affection, or a reply. It makes one choice visible: you decided to deliver these words this way.
You decide what your words are worth.
What does the seal preserve?
The THIS COST ME seal connects the words, the amount, and the recorded moment.
VERIFY ORIGINAL lets you check the original record of the message. The seal concerns what was created and its associated details. Whether the message is sincere—and what it means—remains between the people involved.
The words.The amount.The moment.Locked together.
What stays private?
Messages written in your own words are never published on the WALL. You decide who receives the private link and the shareable image. As with any shareable link, someone who has it may choose to pass it on.
The WALL is the platform's anonymous public space. Only unmodified, predefined messages can appear there. For eligible messages, ADD THIS TO THE WALL is selected by default, and you can turn it off before paying. Names and contact details are not published on the WALL.
For a reason that’s yours.
THIS COST ME is for surprising a partner, thanking someone, remembering a moment, or taking an inside joke a little too far.
You bring the feeling, the humor, and the story you share. We give you a way to present them: a sealed digital message, a moment of anticipation, and a reveal of the words alongside the amount you chose.
No reaction is guaranteed. The gesture is yours to make.
Sometimes it says, “I was thinking about you.”
Sometimes it says, “Yes, I really paid for that joke.”
And sometimes it says both.
THIS COST ME.
If it matters, make it cost.
